2020 Malibu Monsoon 6.2 410

First post here…thanks for having me.  I found some information regarding the Monsoon 6.2 410 engine but I’m not totally sure I understand.

I’m purchasing a 2020 Malibu 22 LSV used with 200 hours on it.  I have the “build out” sheet and it shows the engine is Monsoon 6.2 410.  I found a post by someone stating Malibu put this engine in his boat instead of the M5Di.  The response was basically “enjoy the free upgrade”.  However, when I look at the build out sheet from my seller it’s showing a $2500 credit on the pricing ($-2500). I just assumed this meant it was a downgraded option rather than an upgraded one.  It also reads Standard - 15 x 1425 - 2249.  I have no idea what this means.  Little help please.

If someone could shed some light on this it would help with my final negotiations.  Thanks!

During the UAW strike at GM the supply of marine engines was interrupted to Malibu. That is why they had to go back to the indmar Raptor 6.2 on some builds. It has pretty similar torque curves and peak torque if I remember correctly to the M5. Maybe a bit more, it’s definitely not a downgrade, maybe a bit of an upgrade. The credit is most likely just because it isn’t standard equipment for the model year.
