Optimal Fuel Crusing speed / rpms for LT4 (M240)

While out on our houseboat, we will often need to drive back to the marina to drop off / pick up guests.  This is a 30 min or more drive.  What is the best speed (on plane) to maximize fuel efficiency?   Thanks.

Don't know.  From what I have read the lowest drag (other than no wake) is the slowest speed the boat is fully on plane.  All the charts I remember seeing with boats of different lengths for both MXZ and LSV this seems to be around 24 MPH or so, perhaps a little faster.  Have not seen that chart for a M series hull but I would think that the same general ID would apply, slowest speed where you were fully on plane.  Most comments on M240 LT4 speed/rpm are about how low the RPM's tend to run.  if that is the case your top speed before the fuel consumption jumps up may be a little higher than it would be for a boat propped for less speed.  We have a 23 MXZ with the M6 and any time my kids want to go faster than 24 MPH to the back end of the lake I ask for 10 dollars to my Venmo account.

The chart for my boat pretty much says the same.  Seems to be around 22-26mph depending on the boat...unless you're willing to cruise at idle.

Test on my boat, by Water Skier Magazine, show between 2500 and 3000 RPM, returning 4.1 mpg and burning between 6 and 8 gallons per hour. Full throttle, 24 gallons per hour.
