Gas Springs to Prevent Locker Doors Slamming

Just got a 2011 Wakesetter LSV (in love) and noticed the back locker doors slam down really heavy if you don’t VERY carefully lower it. I am nervous someone will get injured.

Has anyone chosen a better gas spring for these? I thought mine were broken but when I replaced them with the same part I got the same behavior.

I bought: Attwood Springlift SL34-60-1 Gas Spring 20" × 2

I’ve been thinking about the same issue for years but just haven’t taken time to do something. Someone on here suggested a “slow close” spring and I’ll probably look at that in the off season.

Please report back if you find a solution.

When I replaced my gas struts a number of years ago I went with a higher pressure for the engine cover and trunk, purchased directly from the manufacturer, SPD. Worked great!

Same here.  I also only replaced one side and left the old one there as an equalizer/shock absorber type, but I found you only need one side for good hold if you go 10 lbs over spec.  Nice not having the trunk close on my head in a light headwind... :)
