Rear Hard Ballast Tank Leaking

Recommended Posts

2015 23 LSV

Left rear fat sack fills and drains normally. However, after filling the sack after about 1 hour it has deflated by about 1/8th capacity. Still 7/8th full. No visible leak from sack.

After surfing for while the auto bilge starts cycling on, maybe 2 times per hour.

I suspect the hard ballast tank is leaking and then sack is deflating as space open in the hard tank.

How difficult is it to remove and repair or replace the hard tank.

The boat is an hour away in storage.

TIA!

Have you verified that the tank is leaking?  If you haven't already, I would fill up the tank (without filling the bag) and see if you get the same result with the bilge turning on.

I have had similar issues with my boat. After careful examination and diagnosis, the problem was discovered to be the rear plug n play fill/drain fitting. The fitting felt as though it was firmly seated however it continued to leak. I stood on my head again to diagnose and discovered the fitting needed to be firmly seated and also realized the lock collar was not completely locked. I would verify all your PNP connections are thoroughly seated and lock collars are in the correct position to prevent the fittings from separating. My issue arose from the boat returning from the dealer after the impeller recall. I assume they removed the bag and failed to re-install correctly.
