2021 Flush Kit

Recommended Posts

How do I flush a 23 MXZ after being in salt water?  Manual says “The location of the control panel for the flush kit is in the starboard engine storage compartment. Attach the wand nozzle to the control panel. Turn ON/OFF via the toggle switch. Water ejects only when the handle grip is squeezed. Do not squeeze until you have aimed the wand.”  Can’t find any of that stuff.  I have the rear left port for the hose.  Where’s Every thing else? Or is that section of the manual obsolete?  Thx

You have a hose hook up at the transom of the boat port side.  Hook a hose up to it, turn on water, fire motor.  Make sure to screw the cap back on when you are done disconnecting the hose.  Also, it may take about 20 seconds for water to flow through the surf pipe, so don’t freak if you do not see water right away.

I’ve used a product salt away along while flushing as well, never had an issue.

Oh that’s it?  Ok.  Thanks.  I didn’t understand what they had in the manual.

I also use Salt-Away or similar product to help dissolve the salt from the inside parts (heat exchanger, exhaust manifolds, etc.).  I flush with fresh water for a few minutes, then the product until I see suds coming from the exhaust, then turn off the engine and leave the suds inside.  I use the rest of the dispenser full to rinse the trailer and the boat (including upholstery) before I wash with dish soap and water.

I strongly urge you to buy the Salt-Away kit first so you can get their applicator tool.  The tool that comes with other brands looks the same, but they all leak.  The Salt-Away one works great.  Buy refill product in a jug as you need it since you won't need another kit with applicator.  Right now I'm using CRC Salt Terminator.

Do you have to plug the normal intake on the hull when doing this?

Nope the incoming water pressure will close the internal check valve preventing the need to do that.
