Surfing Left, Steering wheel pulls relatively hard

Recommended Posts

Is it normal for the steering wheel to pull pretty hard when surfing left?   No issue surfing right.  Just left.  I’m guessing it’s mainly due to the prop direction.  Thanks.

Yes, that’s normal for the surfgate boats due to the combination of the prop rotation and gate acting as another rudder.

Some people adjust the tab on their rudder and have been able to lessen or neutralize the pull when surfing left. The more recent models don’t seem to have the left pull either.

if you list your boat heavily and it doesn't improve it dramatically over barging , get your rudder adjusted, i had it, though not quite as bad as others that have described theirs as (“cant turn left”, as in can’t!), when i barged it. if it does improve dramatically well listed then it's probably normal for your boat

when i started listing steering is a non issue left or right i can turn with one hand in a normal manner and boat tracks straight or in a slight arc with no hands on wheel, i correct that arc with my fingers not my whole hand, my left side tracks virtually straight with no hands on wheel
