05 VLX Remove harmonic balancer reverse thread?

Recommended Posts

2005 wakesetter VLX 383 HH. Bought the boat used, previous owner gave little info on service. Had the boat out skiing hard, heard a clunk and temps shot up. Shut off the boat and saw the water pump hanging by one screw. The one in the picture that is bent.

After investigating closer of the water pump connection, looks like one bolt was removed, one broke off in balancer and third bent in balancer.

Looking to remove the balancer and most likely replace. Can anyone verify the bolt is reverse thread? Ie right loosey lefty tighty.

any other advice would be appreciated, plan on renting a harmonic puller and impact drill.

The star washer and the head of the bolt both look like right hand thread to me.  I changed one on a GM 3.8L V6 a long time ago and was surprised at the torque required on the bolt to break it free.
