Isn't the temp sensor usually part of the paddlewheel unit?

Who cares what the temp sez? Just dip a toe in and you'll know if its too cold. Seems like an awful big hole to waste just for temp sensor.

Too cold?  I thought in TX it was used to decide if the water temp was so high that it is going to be full of brain eating amoebas
