Beep beep beep on wake transfer not beeping--low sound volume

Recommended Posts

For no apparent reason, when doing a wake surf transfer or cross or switch over, the usual beep beep beep warning is no longer working, or if it is, at very low volume.  Any suggestions for fixing?

The surf gate transfer horn is mounted underneath the center aft aluminum step plate above the blower vents and between the two transom seat cushions.  There is a purple/white wire and green/white wire connected to the horn.  A faulty horn or bad connection can cause it to not work.  They also really don't like getting wet.  The purple/white wire is powered by the ignition power button and the green/white wire gets the switched ground from the 20 pin connector on the viper2 touch screen/controller to make the horn sound.

I am having the opposite problem.  I would love to figure out how to turn mine off.  After getting new amps, and dialing in the speakers, the sound is so loud it nearly blows out eardrums.  Getting it to stop beeping would be a blessing as the way it sits now, we cannot transfer while surfing.

2017 and newer Malibu boats use the tower speakers as the transfer horn, but 2016 and earlier have a dedicated horn on the transom.

On 2017-2019 Malibu the stereo settings on the right hand screen has an Alert icon that you can use to change the volume or turn off the transfer horn by changing the alert level to 0, 1, or 2.  It is on the same screen as the treble, bass, and faded controls.  Axis boats have a very similar option in the setting menu on the info center screen.

On 2020 and newer Malibu boats the transfer alert volume can be changed using the settings icon on the bottom of the left hand screen, then select Configuration, then Radio Configuration at the bottom.  Surf Tones volume is changed to 0, 1, or 2 by using the + and - icons.
