Surf wave adjustment

I’ve recently noticed that I can only get my Surfwave when my wedge is set on the ramp position,  the more I adjust towards vertical the wave turns messy. 23lsv all ballast set at 100 as well as my PNP bags.  Both regular and goofy sides.

In the past I’ve been able to adjust through every setting on the wave. Any ideas what may be going on?

Sounds like you don't have enough weight on the surf side.  If you weight it evenly, the surf gate will go too deep and allow water to come over the top and that will wash out the wake on the surf side.  I generally run 100% on the surf side and 75% on the other  (or add some lead weight).

So was it good before and now it gets washy?

I have had days with mine where I had to go to click one up towards ramp to clean the face of the wave.  It was on rougher days.
I came to the conclusion that either the wedge is not always going to the same spot, or the rougher water was changing the pitch of boat.  I messed with the calibration on the wedge.  Not sure If ever did anything to it.

I really just think it’s the water condition for me.

if you surfing left (regular) I found adding weight on left side helped.  Especially when it was like more towards front

sorry to bug you guys- are you able to achieve a clean wave on both sides? IE transferring? My last boat was a 2016 23 LSV and we center loaded it- added substantial weight both fore and aft on top of the factory and plug and play, but always CENTER loaded. Picked up a 2021 23 LSV assuming the wave would be the same as my 2016- and i have yet to figure out how to get a decently clean wave on both sides without moving ballast around... Its one or the other but not both. Spent 2 hours in the water today doing nothing but moving ballast around and could not achieve a clean wave on both sides without moving weight around. Have a great week and weekend yall!

This perplexes me.  I hit fill all and run with the wedge on three at 11.1 - 11.2.  Seems to turn out a pretty crisp wave.

To the point above - rough water and wind effect my wave dramatically.  And it only makes sense it would, too.

Thanks for the input bud! I appreciate it. Really baffled- i can only assume either something was majorly changed or something was installed wrong on my boat. when i do exactly what you do i get a terribly dirty wave- mostly whitewater. pretty much unridable. I tried to post some pictures here but evidently pictures over a certain size aren't allowed and the lowest definition camera i have is my iPhone sp i cant show you what it looks like :-(

Strange.  You, @Five Cent Worth, and I have the same boat.  We get a great wave out of ours.  The regular wave suffers a bit, just as it did on our 2017 22VLX, but it's by no means a washed out whitewater mess.  The goofy wave is pretty sweet.  FWIW. we run a little heavier on the surf side.  Depending on human ballast, we will run 50-75% on the non surf side and 75-100% on the surf side in our rear ballast.  All other ballast at 100%.  As we increase in human ballast, we tend to increase the speed to keep the wave longer.  If not, we get a wall of water that's intimidating to some of the younger riders and keeps them closer to the boat than we'd prefer.  We run between 11.2-11.8 depending on crew size and rider.

We often have a decent size crew, too.  I never thought of getting up to 11.8.  What is your speed with four adults and four 5 - 9 yr olds?

When we have our youngest behind the boat, all in that age range, we usually run 11.6.  However, we also run a little less ballast and wedge, sometimes no wedge, and the wave is good and clean.

How are you set up for that age range?

To be honest, my boy (9) would rather be towed around on the Zup and my daughter (6) is just starting to get up.  She stays up holding onto rope for 10 - 20 secs.  I think i am usually at ~10.8 with no wedge.

With all ballast loaded for a nice meaty wave, for more experienced riders, my youngest daughter appreciated the mellowness of the wave when wedge in lift and speed at 11.0. Wedge in lift reduces rear ballast approximately 500lbs, from what I understand.
