05 response lxi - stalling/hesitating above 25mph

Recommended Posts

not always...need ideas what to check

at first I though it is weeds....but pulled out of water, and did not see anything.

was towing/tubing all day (fuel probably went below 1/3), towards end of day, when going 30mph or so, started to suddenly slow with throttle in same position. only seem to happen around 25-35mph. was not able to reproduce below 20mph, or at WOT.

engine also seems to knock once stalling happens, but this could be due to fuel cutoff or similar I assume

where do I start with this? fuel filters/air filters?

Which engine do you have?  Definitely change fuel filters first and then check the pressure on the fuel rail with a gauge.  The pressure at key on, idle, and WOT should all be the same.

hmmm...plugs, wires, distributor cap, fuel filter, fuel pump, timing. I have a 2001 LXI and my fuel pump went out last year. They have fuel pump kits now and it was pretty easy to replace.

I had the same problem. After doing a complete tune up, plugs wires, coil, new distributor, and filter between pump and engine. problem continued....

I learned that there is another filter inline between the fuel tank and fuel pump.  That filter is above the fuel tank, had to remove the rear seat and lift up the seat back to get to the filter.

3/8 barbed inline filter, 40 micron  (Napa Gold Part 3482) or WIX33482  retail $12.50
