Thanks for your wisdom!  I am wondering how to remove the pole - it looks like I need to remove from under the floor.

I think you just hit it with your purse and it will come free, then you pick it up.

Thanks for the help everyone. I was able to get it out. It was really wedged in there so I had to remove the mount from the floor and smack it a few times with a rubber mallet to get the pole free from the mount.
