Temp light

Recommended Posts

I have a 1994 Malibu flight craft direct drive. My temperature gauge works and the boat runs about 170°. But ever so often the temp light will come on and I don't know which one to believe, the temperature light warning or the temperature gage. Has anybody experience this

I would try cleaning the engine grounds, sensor connectors, and the Cannon plug connecting the engine harness to the boat harness.  A bad connection will make the sensors lie to you.  An IR heat gun will tell you the truth about engine temperature, and they are pretty cheap these days.
