Indmar Monsoon 320 engine firing and sparkplug wires order

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

This is Jim, I'm new to the forum. I recently bought a 1997 Malibu Echelon with Indmar Monsoon engine 320. The engine is in great shape but it runs rough after 30 minutes.

I have replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs, cap and rotor and it ran good for 40 minutes then the engine makes weird sound like one cylinder is dead. I tried to look online to look for the firing order of my engine so i can trace back the the spark plug wires to see them in the right order or not. I got couple of images but they did not stating front or rear of the engine. I really need help to get the info clearly so i use double check the wires.

Thank you very much!

Jim

In a direct drive boat the transmission is on the aft or rear of engine and the water pumps are on the forward or front of the engine.  Cylinders 1 and 2 are on the front or forward side.

In a V drive boat the engine is mounted backwards.

In a Direct Drive like your Echelon, cylinder # 1 is at the front, observer seat side, or car orientation left front.  # 2 is next to captain chair, distributor at the back of the engine.
