2021 LT4 Oil and Oil filters

Recommended Posts

Just as an FYI from my digging and finding. If you have a 2021 Monsoon LT4:

Oil:

Mobil 1 ESP 0W-40 (this is the only dexros Gen 2 oil I could find, not many places stock it, you will need to order it from somewhere)

Oil Filter (shorter newer version)

Wix 51212

I just went over to the GM/Cadillac dealer and picked up the 5w30 dexos gen 2 oil. It is the same as for the 2015 corvette ZO6. Boat dealer should have filters.

Malibu says 0w-40 dexros in the LT4, 5w-30 for the m5/6

My lt4 says 0w-40 on the cap

Maybe there is a difference based on lattitude. Ide expect your oil might be better in northern climates and mine better where it stays warm. Where you at?

Much more likely they made a running change. Happens all the time. Pcm just did it a few years ago too.

I’ve had success with all of these over the years.

Impeller puller, paint can hooks 45’deg needle nose pliers.

I went to change my 2022 LT4 impeller a month or so ago, but decided to do a photo inspection 1st, based on this visual I decided to wait.

It’s probably a waste of time and effort on my part, but when I go to inspect mine I go ahead and pull it and submerge it in distilled water for the duration of the layup. It potentially takes the set out of the impeller and keeps it from dry rotting. YRMV
