2013 TXi speedometer failure

Recommended Posts

Hello

Last trip out no speedometer. Tested sensor per Bake’s new paddle wheel sensor info, seems to work but output is 0-9.2 volts per 90 degrees rotation of the wheel, spec is 0-12 volts. Any comments if 0-9.2 volts is enough for the speedometer to provide a reading?
Also anyway to test the speedometer head?  New ones are $700+…….

Thanks, Peter

You should be able to use the setup menu on the center info center display to select Service, then Diagnostic, then Gauge Sweep/Zero/Full to see if the speedo needle moves.

I don’t have a ton of advice for fixing, but if deemed it is bad and needs to be replaced I would just replace it worth zero off instead of another speedometer. You’ll get a much better speed control system and it will help with resale. Maybe not add a ton of value but a txi without zero off is kinda like a truck without 4wd (for a bad auto industry analogy)
