Engine fault indicator - losing engine power

Recommended Posts

I have an ‘07 Malibu Wakesetter. I was running at about 35 MPH when the engine all the sudden lost significant power and the “engine fault” indicator was shown on the dash display.  Engine temp and oil pressure were fine.  I’m assuming the problem is related to the fuel line/filter but would appreciate any feedback or suggestions.  Thanks!

Without knowing what the engine fault was it will be difficult to diagnose the problem.  If this was the first time you ran the boat this season I would check to see if the knock sensors on the sides of the engine block are plugged in.  It is common to unplug them when removing the sensors during winterization.

You could use the setup menu on your info center display, select SERVICE, then FAULT CODES and post the SPN FMI fault code numbers to find out what the alarm was.
