G4 Power Port Side Loose

Recommended Posts

I've been hearing a really weird loud noise while going over 20mph on the G4 tower port side.

I feel like the deployed bimini top is putting some drag and making the tower unstable and shake.

I don't want this heavy tower to fall and hit anyone so I'm just traveling at 15mph for now..

when I look underneath the tower's swivel I see a 1/2in spacing instead of the normal 1/8in spacing.

I don't see anywhere to tighten any bolts so that's why I am here.

What should I do or what do you guys recommend?

I would recommend you have your dealer look at it.  Malibu has a G4 Lower Assembly Diagram PDF available to their dealers with instructions that include assembly, torque, theadlock, and lube specifications for the components.  The document is proprietary and only available with permission from Protomet.

Messing with the fasteners can be potentially hazardous and not really something that is considered DYI.

Were you able to resolve this issue? I am experienced same symptoms. Thank you in advance for any additional info you may have to share.

I fixed this by removing the hex screws then found the main bolt was totally loose.
I tried using a normal socket wrench but I still had the same issue so I bought a torque wrench from amazon

torque main bolt with a 1-1/2 socket to 50 ft/lbs add locktite
torque the smaller hex bolts to 50 ft/lbs add locktite
