Exhaust smell in bilge 2012 Monsoon 350

Recommended Posts

Its minor but I’ve been smelling exhaust fumes coming from the bilge under the helm near the sub and also in the engine compartment.  I tightened and replaced some of the hose clamps on the wet exhaust hoses but it didn't help.  Could there be another source for this smell?  Stuck PCV valve or something?  I plan to pressurize the exhaust hoses with a shop vac at the surf pipe and spray soapy water on all the joints and check for bubbles.  Other ideas?

Not sure you'll find anything that way.

The exhaust joints are fairly large, i'd run my hand over all the joints while the motor is warming up.

Also, check your mufflers for damage.  The mufflers are a common failure points for cracking, etc.  Although, they are wet, so you'll see water coming out too.

Good luck.
