Starting issues

Recommended Posts

I purchased a Malibu ( first boat purchase) and have it at Norris Lake this weekend.
It started right up. I took it to marina to get gas. After filling it, it started up but would go into gear....forward or backward.
we floated to the dock and I turned engine off. Ever since then, I have not been able to start the boat. I put in my code, but when I push the electronic starter button on the digital display, nothing happens.
unfortunately we did not get a back up key at the time of sale. We are literally dead in the water.
fortunatey we were with friends and they towed us back to our lift.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Did you check the battery? Sounds like your battery(s) might be low on volts causing everything (the brains that runs the boat) to freak out a bit.

Did you make sure you have it neutral?  Also check the kill switch to make sure it didn’t get pulled out of place. If that doesn’t work you might turn the power button and battery selection switch off and then turn the battery switch back on and power button back on and then try to start.

We have two batteries.
I charged both batteries over night snd today. Both register green on charger, but still no luck.
it is in neutral. I’ve checked this several times. Kill switch is set. I have turned battery switch to off all day as they charged. Turned back on multiple times and still jim luck.
