2011 Malibu Wakesetter - Keypad Not Working

Recommended Posts

I just took my boat out of storage and charged the battery. The keypad is unresponsive to the code and electronics won't turn on. I took the following action:

1. Checked the voltage on the batteries: Good

2. Checked the voltage leading into the fuse box: Good

3. Checked the voltage near the throttle good: Good

4. Captain seat heater is turning on

I've scoured the forums to find an answer but only find info on the MTC delaminating and failing. I'm unsure if my keypad issue is related to the MTC or something separate. All advice is welcome!

Did you get an answer on this? My keypad does not respond either and I have to do a factory reset several times during the day. I have been looking for a new keypad from a dealership but I cannot find one. I was just wondering if you figured out another way to fix this problem, thank you

We have checked for loose connections and we thought cleaning would be our next step. Can you suggest a cleaning product?? Appreciate your help here!!

Basically remove every connector and make sure it doesn't have green crud or something on it.  If it does have crud, usually just a wipe with a rag will get it, but sometimes you might need to use a small wire brush or even an old toothbrush.  Wiggling the connector a bit as you reinstall it helps the contacts to get down to bare metal again too.  For a screw terminal, get it almost tight and then rotate it a few times before you tighten it.

I like to spray connections with a light spray oil such as WD-40, P'wer B'laster, or other product after I reconnect them (or before, in the case of a sealed plug).  It helps keep oxygen and water away from the metal contacts so they stay working a bit longer.
