Replacing 383HH in 07 malibu wakesetter lsv

So my family and I bought an 07 malibu wakesetter with a 383HH about 2 years ago and ended up repainting the boat and putting all new interior and flooring in as well. Thought we finally finished everything that we wanted done to the boat, until will cruising around we heard a giant thunk in the back and found out our crankshaft in the boat snapped right behind that harmonic balance pulley. We took in to a shop to see how much it would be to replace and they said it was a very technical job, and quotes us 10k to have it shipped to a shop, have them replace and balance everything and then send it back to have it put back in the boat. We ended up finding another 383 but its a vortec block from a company called Raptor Engines out of Oregon. The motor produces a little bit more power and costs us about $3500. Is there any thing we should be concerned about going with a different motor like this?

I would imagine that your original engine is a Vortec also.  Your old ECM, manifolds, etc. will bolt right up to that.

Did your mechanic diagnose why the crank failed?  It could be hydro lock due to failed exhaust riser gaskets.  Remove the plugs and see if water pours out.

They didn't give out any details why it had crank failure... The pulled the motor apart and didn't mention any water coming out. We got the motor and the mechanics that are installing it are now communicating with raptor engines because apparently the heads from the original motor aren't fitting on the new motor.... Just more problems

The photo for the new motor shows heads on it... and the description mentions valves and springs.  Why use the old heads?

The original heads are aluminum on a HH aren't they?  Probably ordered one without heads.

Yes, we ordered it without heads since we already had them and the people at raptor told us that they should fit right on. So now the mechanics here and at raptor are talking to see if they need to send us heads or if they can figure something else out.

Update on my last post. We found out that the heads that came on the engine made it so the exhaust manifold wouldn’t fit on. Raptor is now making a different set of heads for us. We also are taking out boat to a different company simply because the company we have it at now doesn’t seem to really know what they’re doing. Raptor contacted them and explained the issue and how they are gonna fix it but the other company is still confused and seems to really have a lack of knowledge on Inboard motors. Also contacted some close friends about this company and they said that they messed there boat up twice and then said they couldn’t fix it and that they had to take it somewhere else.
