when flushing the engine with the transom flush on a2020 22lsv does there need to be pressure? or will there be suction.

There should be a provision in the transom flush assembly to prevent water from going that direction and out the raw water pick up  grate. At least on all of the boats factory equipped that I have dealt with.

also am i supposed to be climbing under the boat and blocking the raw water intake?

There should be a valve to close right over raw water intake inside engine bay.

You will want good water pressure to flush any air out of the system to prevent over heating. I did my friends FI 25 and had to rev it to get it to prime with his transom flush.
