Faint smell of burnt oil - 2017 Wakesetter 23LSV

Hey guys looking for some advice here. I’m going on my second season of owning a 2017 Malibu Wakesetter 23LSV with the 410 raptor engine. The boat has ran flawlessly so far (put approximately 85 hours on it. I’ve routinely changed the oil at 50 hour intervals and have smelled burnt oil a few times on my last outings. It usually happens after long periods of running at higher speeds or right as I first take off from trailering and then goes away. The smell is very faint as well so not overpowering at all. Oil pressure is normal and the actual oil looks good as well.

Has anyone dealt with something like this before, if so, what was the fix?

TIA for any help!

It sounds like you may have a slight leak in one or both rocker covers.  Check the lower edges with a paper towel to see if you have oil running down from the cover, along the heads, and onto the manifolds.

@asnowman It’s enough to smell openly but is super faint and disappears almost immediately at idle after any extended use at higher RPMs

@justgary I’m not the most mechanically inclined person... can you tell me where the rocker covers are?

Rocker covers; valve covers.  You have one on top of each head.

I would start by checking the air filter and PCV valve juncture and the PCV valve hose to valve cover inlet elbow/assembly. A hose disconnected from either one would prevent the oil fumes from being sucked back into the combustion cycle and vented directly into the boat. A quick and easy first check.
