Very Faint High Pitch Whine? - VDrive Oil ?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2015 22VLX at idle it has a very high faint whine ... I’m curious if it needs some VDrive oil... I’ve checked it but should you actually see the oil in there when you take the lid off. Reading full. Mobile Delvac Synthetic 50 is what it calls for.

In that case I'd guess it is prop sing.  Take a look (feel) at the prop; make sure you carefully touch the entire circumference of each blade and feel for nicks or very subtle damage to the blade.  My understanding is it is more prone to sing if it is on the trailing edge of the blade.  Anyhow, a tiny bit of careful/gentle filing of a nick should stop the prop singing.

Could be shaft alignment also.  If its off a little it will sing.  Good news is either an alignment will fix it or you just let it wear off and it will stop over time.
