2005 Sunscape Cluster - Temp and Oil Pressure not working

Recommended Posts

Hey guys - My 2005 has this four in one cluster. https://www.bakesonline.com/malibu-boats-black-and-amber-cluster-gauge.html

The temperature and oil pressure are no longer working (they were spotty for a while). Fuel gauge is spotty now and volts are working fine. I am thinking of ordering a new cluster, do you all think a new cluster would fix the issues?

Thanks.

My 2002 wake setter has the same problem and I have now also lost the RPM counter - my speed has not worked since I got the boat. So I will be interested to see any answer to your question

Might be a few tidbits in that thread, and here is the troubleshooting guide.  Keep in mind that your gauges are digital, and know which signal they are looking for on a common bus.  All of the gauge wires have all of the signals on them, so the first thing to try is swapping wires to the gauges to make sure it isn't a harness problem.

Several people here have reported success in bringing their units back to life by opening the MMDC box and resoldering all of the parts on the board.

It seems as though the gauge prices have  taken a turn for the worse:  $350 for the 4-1; $700-ish for a speedo!  And MDCs are through the roof (latter makes sense due to chip shortage I guess).  You could  just go analogue: https://skiboatpartsonline.com/Medallion-Conversion-Kit-Malibu-TRD-1201-MAL?search=conversion kit  Ron also sells  standalone GPS Speedos for about $250  Lots of folks here and on other boat forums have made the switch.
