Small spider cracks on bottom of hull

Recommended Posts

2015 axis A24. Today I looked under the boat and noticed small spider cracks basically directly underneath the driver side windshield. It is direct in line the the driver side trailer bunk. It is more forward so the bunk has never made contact. Doesn’t look like it was caused by hitting anything. Bought this boat used and just noticed this. Is there issues with this in this area?
its probably 5” of spider cracks. Can’t even get the camera to focus on it as they are to small. Is this concerning?

If the cracks are under water, water could eventually soak through and start rotting out the fiberglass. We actually have a boat here that this happened to. The guy hit something and tore up all of his under water gear, but couldnt be bothered with repairing it, so he replaced the prop and kept running. The water soaked in around the strut where the cracks were and the fiberglass delaminated. big mess.

It is possible the cracks are caused by the hull flexing after coming loose from the stringer.  It is impossible to tell just from a description, but I would recommend taking it to a qualified fiberglass shop to determine if there is a problem.

Try taking a flashlight and shine it across the hull (flashlight parallel to the hull) and then see if you can get some photos. I found that was the only way to capture photos when sending in for warranty work.

Well here is the best pictures I could come up with. Again it’s about the size of my hand.

Sorry. I have no clue how to get pictures on here from my iPhone

Just open an account on Flickr.com and upload your photo there. Once uploaded, copy and paste the web address in this comment box.

How do you get the photo off your phone to your computer? You can text it to your email address, or plug your usb cord and pull it from the files.
