Ronix Surf Rack and Bag

Hello everyone, 

We are toying with the idea of having custom surf pockets sewn into our bimini top on our 2006 Malibu 23LSV vs buying and using the Ronix surf rack and bag here: https://www.wakemakers.com/ronix-bimini-rack-wakesurf-board-carrier.html

Has anyone with the Illusion tower in or around our year model used the Ronix bag? I would be very interested in your experience with this solution.

Have been watching this, hoping that someone had tried this.  In about the same position.

Well,  we bought it and tried it and it works great! We thought we would be modifying our bimini, but we didn't have to do anything at all. The straps on the front are long enough that they go around the front of the tower. The straps on the side either go around the tower itself or around the exposed bimini poles near the back. We had a kneeboard, one big guy surf board, and a small skim board in there with 1 extra space. Our boat has the extended bimni so not sure if this woudl work as well for smaller ones. 

It was a very windy day on the lake and very rough and we ran around all day with the boards up top with no issues. I was able to get up to 35 mph and was never worried about the setup. No bouncing, etc.  We mostly surf so the rope attaches to the tower and runs out under the bimini so it wasn't an issue when I was surfing either. 

The best part was that, when we were done, we just unstrapped the bag and were able to carry it off the boat and into the truck and the boards were all protected and together. We are super happy with the purchase and it was a better deal than paying the $450 the upholstery shop wanted to sew in 2 custom pockets.

Thanks for being the guinea pig on this.  One question - could you still attach a rope up there?  It looks like they hide it.

@REHinH20Yes, you can still attach a rope. I have not tried the kneeboard or a wakeboard long rope yet to know if that can be attached from the top and not get caught on the bag. For Wakesurfing, we attached the rope from the underside and it worked great since the boat is generally lower in the back and therefore the rope doesn't rub the underside of the extended bimini.

OK, yes, a wakeboard rope was what I was thinking of.  That's when we'd have all the surfboards up there.  Again appreciate you!

@REHinH20 I saw a picture online where someone with the same boat added a kind of rope snag preventer device. It looks to me like a bucket lid with slits cut in it to keep the rope from snagging where it pivots on the tow point. I think you can zoom in on the below picture and see what I am talking about.
