Rudder arm bolt cutting hole in coolant hose M235 Raptor

Recommended Posts

During a spring inspection of my boat I found a large cut in some sort of cooling hose under the motor. The bolt that attaches the rudder arm is cutting a hole into the hose. It is almost completely through. I would not be surprised if it is already leaking slightly. It is next to impossible to get to, I think we will have to pull the motor to get to the hose. It is 2-3" in diameter and runs right above the location of the steering cable/rudder attachment. Has anyone else ran into this? Does anyone know what hose this might be, or have a schematic of all the hoses on a Raptor 575? Trying to figure out what all I need to order for parts and get ahead of this problem before summer hits. Also, while fixing it I would love to do some sort of preventive fix so we don't have to go through this again.

Thank you in advance to anyone that has knowledge on this.

Brian

Thanks Steve. I have to think that I am not the first one to encounter this. Hopefully someone has some good insights.
