2018 22 VLX w/410 Raptor - enough power?

Hi, looking for anyone who has experience with a 22 VLX that has the Raptor 410 engine.  I'm looking at buying a used surf boat.  Needless to say, the selection is extremely limited and prices range from crazy to insane.  I found a 2018 22 VLX that has the 410 engine.  Knowing that when it comes to power, more is always better, I'm curious if people find this engine to be sufficient for pushing this boat around when it's loaded with ballast. Most of what I read on the forums makes me think this may ne marginal.  I'm in California, but do boat at Lake Powell on occasion.

Any feedback is appreciated.

I have a 2018 vlx (that’s for sale and would be hilarious if you are talking about my boat).

and honest opinion it has plenty of power.we have 2 475 bags and can surf at 10-11 with 10 people no problem.  We  also boat in Powell once a year and have never needed more power. Want more power? Well I’m always going to want more power but our boat has never struggled fully loaded with 12 people. We carted 12 around in Powell last year and it did great.

The Raptor 410 is plenty of engine for that boat in CA. I’ve had the same on the larger 23 LSV too. Any comments you see on it being underpowered are from people at much higher elevations or those who don’t know how to set up the boat.

You’ll want to get a high altitude/torque prop for Powell but you’d want to have a spare for a trip there anyway.

I had the same engine in a 2017 23 LSV. We had full plug and play, some extra lead bags, and usually 5- 8 people (sometimes more). Lack of power was never an issue for surfing.

We were boating near sea level though, never went into any elevation.

And we loved the growl of the Raptor.

I had a 2016 22 VLX (exact same boat as a 2018) and boat anywhere from 4500’ to 6000’ of elevation and had zero issues when loaded up for surfing or wakeboarding. I loved that boat and engine combo.

I have a ‘16 22VLX currently. Swapped props from a 2249 to a 2419. Even being completely bagged out with dual 600s in the back, it has plenty of torque for surfing. At wakeboard setup, the holeshot has enough power to rip your arms out of the socket🤣 The engine is a little loud (they ended up adding dampening in future years), but it’s a fantastic engine and super easy to winterize.
