Skim style Phase 5 trident and/or Victoria Captain XL are great board choices.  I own and ride both and I'm 6ft, 280.   For novice I'd lean Trident as first choice.  You won't be disappointed in either.

I've yet to find a surf style board I really like for a big guy.  I've owned a doonswell neo, inland surfer red rocket and Brigade.  Maybe I just don't like surf style in general?  Someone else will likely chime in with their surf style preference.

Lots of choices for the Smaller riders.  Phase 5 scamp is what we use for the small kids, but will be too small for 150 lbs.  I'd check the phase 5 and victoria lines for those weight ranges.  I'm sure there will be a few options that would be good fits.
