Please explain Power Wedge 2 Settings

Hey all,

2017 21 VLX.  I've tried to find a thread on this topic.  Unsuccessfully.  Can someone please explain the settings for the power wedge 2?  I've looked in the owners manual and can't find a clear answer.  I know that the settings control the amount of down force provided by the wedge, but I'm particularly confused about the "Lift" mode.  How does that one work and what benefit does it provide?  Also, what is the max speed you can go in "lift" mode?  Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

If you consider the wedge arms when viewed from the starboard side of the boat as the hour hand of a clock.

When the wedge is "Stored", the wedge arms are at 9:30. This lifts the wedge foil out of the water so it doesn't drag on the surface of the water.

On "Lift" mode, think of the wedge arms at 5:30. This brings the front of the wedge foil higher than the rear of the foil. This causes the wedge to help lift the back of the boat at speed, therfore making the boat get on plane quicker.

On the Number settings, the foil is starting to have the rear of the foil higher than the front creating down force. #1 is the setting with the less foil angle, lets consider the wedge arms here as 6:30. #2 would be 7:00, #3 would be 7:30 and so on. Each higher numbered setting will increase the foil angle creating more down force. Also, the higher number is, the more it will lift the bow, along with a steeper wake.

Clear as mud? :)

i’ve been reading a few threads about the topic of slalom skiing in lift mode and I haven’t come across anything conclusive to suggest it’s bad for the boat. I just pulled my wife and daughter with our 2019 VLX21 at 31 mph in lift mode and as experienced recreational skiers they loved it.  Tables out the wake.

If anybody can knowledge share about of the wedge down warning triggering at 25mph is actually applicable to lift mode versus the other settings that create drag, would appreciate it.   certainly don’t want to cause harm to the boat, but from what I’ve seen there isn’t anything suggesting it would. Anyone know or have seen different?

+1

Would love to see what those here with experience have to say about that. I’m tempted to do the same but have hesitated ‘just in case’. Seems to me they wouldn’t create an alarm for no reason, but I don’t know…
