Lsv23 no water suction - overheating

Indmar monsoon 350 5.7 overheating. I can see no suction and no water through clear plastic flush pro valve. New raw water pump w new impeller, checked oil cooler little inlet screen, fresh water flush cap on back screwed on tight, inlet grill and hose is clear coming from bottom of hull. Thermostat looked a little stiff so i removed for troubleshooting. Not getting any water flow. Fresh water hose connected seems to work fine and engine stays cool... but probably working because of hose water pressure.

It sounds like you have a leak in the intake side of your raw water system and it is sucking air, which is much easier to pump than water.  Make sure that you have a good gasket on the water pump face plate and that the screws are tight enough (but not tight enough to break them).  Also make sure that the flush port cap has a good washer in it.  If those don't do it, check each hose connection to ensure you have no air leaks.

I bought the entire new water pump that included impeller installed. That would be odd... but would make so much sense if the key isnt there. No spin , no suction!!! I will try to take it out and check. Thx

Here’s a dumb question. The raw water hose comes from the bottom of the hull intake hole on the starboard side and should go straight back to the starboard side of the raw water pump right? That is how I have it. But when I took the 2 hoses off the old pump I didn’t pay attention.

My 2015 crosses over and enters the port side and exits Starboard, also any time I’ve had suction issues I just put it in the water and bumped the throttle, I don’t trust the plunger fake a lakes anymore

All of your tips were very helpful. The problem was a very small hole from friction that had formed on the raw water intake hose. Now I need to get the perko flushing valve kit off the old hose and on the new one. WOW if any of you have tips on how to pull that out let me know. Super tight!!! Going to try hot water on the raw water hose to get it softened up.

I'd heat up the blade of a utility knife with a torch and score the hose horizontally.  Don't need to cut all the way through, just get through the outer layers.
