First time Malibu owner, need help gearing up...battery charger & tool kit?

Recommended Posts

Picking up my new VTX in 5 weeks, can't come quickly enough...dreams do come true.

Needing some input - the dealer is recommending that I get a tool kit and battery charger/jumper.  Any ideas on what would be best for each?

I second Noco marine chargers.

Toolkit

8 mil socket - fits all the hose clamps

speed tape (aka duct tape)

extra plug

crescent wrench

impeller and sockets to change

jumper cables

screw drivers, sand paper, etc

I've used the Noco GB 50 several times.  It's nice to have it not just for me, but others. I just hand it to the stranded boat and they bring it back once the engine starts...it's a nice feeling knowing that you saved someone's day.

I also have the onboard charger.  They are great.

As for tools, you'll see the full gamut when asking owners.  Some don't even have a flashlight, and some are prepared to over haul an engine.  I definitely lean on the "prepared" side of the spectrum.  Take a look at these threads (and others) and you'll get an idea.

My 2 cents: get the obvious ones such as jump pack, flashlights, tool kit, weekend saver kit, impeller, etc., but definitely add some self-fusing tape for repairs to the tool kit.  That stuff is money.
