battery / alternator issue?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2018 mxz 22 with raptor 410 engine.  a few weeks ago I went out and it struggled very slightly to turn over but started.  It was the first time I went out after I did an oil change and I had hooked up a small oil extractor pump.  The next few times out no issues at all but I started thinking about getting a battery maintainer and I installed one last week.  I ran the battery maintainer until both batteries were on the maintain setting to test it out.   I went out sunday and while the first person was riding I noticed the screen flicker once or twice then noticed my volts were in the 11's when usually over 12.  Watched it for a second and it continued to flicker and it dropped to low 11's.  We were fully ballasted so drained most then started back and it continued to drop into the 10s.  got the low voltage service required warning around 10.6 I think but we made it back to the dock and drained rest of ballast on the trailor.  It went down to 10.2 before shut the engine off, then rose back to 11.  Pulled the batteries and had them charged and tested and supposedly batteries are good.  When I get time I am going to check the connections again.  Is there anything else easy to check before I pull to mechanic?  Are there any fuses involving the alternator?

There are no alternator fuses on the Raptor, but the connection at the alternator, at the starter, and at the main power post on the port stringer near the transmission should definitely be checked for tightness and corrosion.  Also check the main ground cable near the starter and on the port exhaust manifold.
