I suspect that something is trying to talk or listen on the CAN bus and can't communicate.  For example, the dashboard electronics talk to the engine electronics more or less continuously.  Check every connection you can find under the dash and at the main engine plug to make sure they are all clean and making good contact.  This should include the power and return bus bars as well as separate connectors.

A faulty connection or component can corrupt or prevent the CAN buss communication.  There are two separate CAN circuits on the 2015 and newer Wakesetters.  CAN 1 is mainly for the engine ECM, paddlewheel, and depth transducer to communicate with the Viper2 and CAN 2 is for the surfgates, wedge, stereo, and other boat components to communicate with the Viper2 controller.

Check your main 16 pin boat to engine harness plug for corrosion or damaged pins.  A faulty component, like the depth transducer for example, can prevent CAN communication.  Turn of the dash power button, unplug one component, then turn the power button back on to help track down a bad component or harness.  Continue doing this until the CAN error does not occur.  Unfortunately, this can be time consuming and knowledge of the location of the components and plugs is important.

Need to add the ZO antenna for the engine CAN side also.
