Teak Swim Platform for Surfing, Sunscape LSV

Recommended Posts

I recently picked up an 04 Sunscape LSV that has a fiberglass swim platform. The platform on my VTX was 8-10" deeper, but tapered for the surfgates and I am assuming not to cut into the surf wave.

I am having Teak World Enterprises make me a platform, so the questions/comments.

1. I believe with the "stock" shape of the platform, I need to put blocks under the platform to raise it a bit so that it does not cut into the surf wave as much.

2. I chatted with Tommy (at Teak), and he said he would be able to modify the platform to be more of a trapezoid to be more similar to the current platforms. The brackets are pretty close to the "outside" edge of the platform, so it looks like the most I could come in off the sides of the rear would be 1-2". I am assuming that the juice would not be worth the squeeze.

Thanks!

You could get custom brackets made instead of blocking. But that would mean a fair bit of work to replace the existing.  Wood blocking is the way to go.

@ rakr ,If you are going to teak , what are your plans with the fiberglass one.  If you are looking to sell it let me now i would be interested. I have a 2004 Sunscape 23 LSV as well.

@JWALL yup, I was planning on posting. I am not sure if Teak World has brackets or not. I’ll DM and let you know. Thanks!

I too am having a teak platform made from Tommy at Teak World.  He referred me to Alloy Marine in Redding, CA for the brackets.  They can help you.

One thing to think about is not only the shape of the platform, but the miter of the angled cut if you want the gates to come in flush against the platform...aka match the cut angle to the angle of the gate from vertical.
