That actually makes a lot of sense. I mean it's either a mistake or someone was trying to trick someone. I doubt the DNR is going to measure the boat., but I would assume if they ran the registration number it would say the length. One thing I would add is I have never actually seen a lake with a length restriction in my area. People talk about it on this forum, but I'm in MN and I just don't know of any lakes where two feet would matter.

My neighbour at the lake put 1 9.9 HP sticker on a 15 (might have been a 20?) Merc outboard  to allow his kids to use the boat without a license.
