replacing back seat 2001 Sunsetter lxi

Recommended Posts

Hi guys-

The back seat bottoms on my sunsetter are starting to come apart, so I need to get new skins made.  The real problem though is that the seat bottoms slip off the bases and fall in when unsuspecting people step on them.  I'd like to move away from the 3-piece seat bases and replace it with a response-style 1-piece seat bottom.  This leads to my questions:

1.  Is the response the same dimensions in this area?  A buddy has a response of similar year that I could use to template the seat bottom.  I would check the dimensions myself but the boat is in storage 1 1/2 hours away.  If the seat bases were the same overall size I could ask someone like Gabe to make me a seat bottom skin for a response.

2.  What is the seat bottom material, and where do I get it?

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Ah, OK thanks.

Anybody know what the plastic material is on the seat bottom?

Malibu used Klegecell as structural panels in that era of boat.  Divinicell, Starboard light etc. are options.  You'll have to sort whether you need to have a reinfircing subframe.
