2003 Malibu Depth Transducer

Recommended Posts

Hello Crew,

First off I am brand new to the crew and have no idea what I am doing other that seeking help.

I have a 2003 Malibu Sunscape 21LSV. It is in next to mint condition (70hrs)....except I came into the lift a bit hot and shaved the speedo paddle wheel And depth/temp transducer off of the bottom. I am looking for and exact plug and play replacement for the transducer. (It is a thru hull type with a quarter sized lens on the bottom, right next to the paddle wheel). Any help on locating one (even if it’s used and works). I’d really appreciate it. Thank you

Bad news, the transducer for the depth finder is no longer available, has not been for several years now.  Several people have installed aftermarket through hull style transducers in the past, myself included.  I glued one inside the hull in our 02, since it didn't come with one, and mounted the display under the dash.

Do you have any pics of this? Was going to help my friend install one on his 05.  Thanks 😊

This is the only picture i could find so far, It the hummingbird gauge on the bottom of the accessory panel there.

I mounted the transducer in the forward bilge, on the flattest part of the hull in there, but not on the center line of the boat.  It gave a slightly off reading when depths got over 50 ft, but it was far better than nothing.

Does anyone know if this keeps the readings for water and air temp?

In my 2006 there was a separate sensor for water and air temp.  This fix is adding a glue in transducer that works with the medallion brain.  With it being glue in, there is no air/water.

So, there could be a possibility of keeping the wiring for those and just "adding" in the transducer to replace the old?

Maybe?  Idk.  Maybe call and ask Bakes?
