Cam Sensor Code

2012 23' Wakesetter LSV w/ the 5.7 Monsoon

Rode it hard after boat sat for a while today and at the end i kept getting red error message and active engine fault code for Cam Sensor

"Code: SPN 723 FMI 4 Cam Sensor. Voltage Below normal or shorted low"

Has anyone gotten this error before? Wondering if it's an actual problem or a fluke

Thanks

It is always possible that it is a fluke.  Since your profile says you live in Houston, is this a salt water boat?  I ask because it could be a cruddy connection at the engine sensor or the ECM.  It might be time to pull and clean all of the connectors on the engine and ECM to make sure that they are making good contact.

Use some light spray lube to hose the engine down a few times a year to help keep corrosion at bay.

Nah not a salt water boat, fresh water it's whole life and had a new engine put in at 200hrs and has about 220 on it now. So just a little surprised for a cam sensor but not impossible or anything

Check timing via diacomm. Cam angle should be 705 + or - 5 above 1,200 RPM's.

This is most likely a timing problem, distributor or crank sensor problem. Crank sensor is low in the bilge, so water or oil can cause havoc. Timing cover is prone to leak oil in 5.7L and it usually leaks onto crank sensor and/or connection.
