Best current options for Illusion X swivel board racks

Recommended Posts

I see a lot of older posts... curious what the current options are for swivel racks for an Illusion IX tower... no wakeboards, just surf/skim.

What are ya’ll happy with?

Thanks!

I've been looking at these:  https://www.reborntower.com/wakeboard-rack/170

Another option is:  https://www.bulletlines.com/double-wakesurf-tower-rack-p/1003.htm?CartID=1

I think prior to the options above being available, people used to get the Sampson swivel racks for over 2x the cost of the other options.

I've got the bulletlines 2 surf x 2 and are very happy with them, especially the cost.

The rotate/swivel function works pretty well on these ones?

Thanks guys!

I just replaced my original non-swivel racks with the bulletlines swivel racks.  I have yet to get out and actually use them thanks to 'Sconsin weather and schedules but I'm happy with them.  Price is right and I couldn't justify spending twice as much for Samson racks.

I Have the bullet on both sides.  While they ware well made and work great they are very hard to operate and a pain to use.  the Swivel mechanism is not weather resistant and corrodes inside the hinge.

Is your boat stored outside?  Salt water or coastal exposure?  Do they recommend any maintenance to lube the hinges at all?

The boat is stored outside under cover but exposed on lake.  I have tried several different lubes but none work.

Not sure about corrosion.   My boat lives dry.  The swivels have 3 stop spots.  You pull a lever on the swivel to release.   Also there's a bolt in the middle that you can tighten or loosen to set the rotation resistance.

For the Samson swivel racks, anyone know what angle racks to get for the lower and upper positions on the Illusion X towers?

Fix spelling of Samson

@jwl019

Even at that, there wasn't a lot of room between the two when you put boards in them. You might want to consider using straight on the lowers.

These are surf-surf medium angle on the lowers and wake-surf extreme angle on the uppers. I couldn't find a pic with the covers off.

Now that I think about it, pretty sure that the surf-surf racks only came in medium angle.

I did the Samson wake/surf/wake on both sides it only comes at one angle. Also bought a new Bimini top that has 2 surf pockets. I had 4 racks on my last setup and just seemed to be more trouble the worth.

Link is to company you can buy the Bimini with socks also can get an extended Bimini thats what I got.
