Hull Blistering

Hey guys,

 

I have a question regarding hull blistering. I pulled my boat last week for the winter and noticed quite a bit of blistering. I purchased the boat at the start of this season and did noticed these blisters but didn't let it get to me.

Now that iv spent more time around the boat its starting to dawn on me maybe I should look into this a little deeper. 

My question is, Should I be concerned about this issue, should I do something about it or should I just turn my head and enjoy the boat?

 I absolutely love the boat, but it worth me spending more money on the boat having this issue? I was planning on putting a new interior, new sound system and just "resorting the boat". You can't leave a boat sitting in a lake for 3 months without any bottom protection and NOT expect it to blister.

My 95 blistered and I knew it would by leaving it in the lake for months at a time. What I found is most of the blistering seemed to be mostly at the waterline. So, I just cleaned the hull after each season and didn't think twice about it. It didn't seem to affect performance at all. My 02 I would never leave in the water because of this.

Wax Wax Wax. It took 5 years of not enough waxing for my last boat to get blisters.

Most of my blisters would disappear after sitting dry dock for a year. So.. dry it out and wax it really good every year.

Great thanks for the advise. Dose the wax help "seal" the Fiberglass/ gel coat to some degree? I will definitely look into this for next season.

Is there any products or procedures you would recommend to help prevent this from happening? 

We have a lake cabin so I will be leaving the boat in the lake during the summer season for years too come, which is 3-4 months up here in Canada.

Bottom paint.  It is ugly.

Invest in a boat lift, if you can. That’s the best way to prevent it.
