Transmission Fluid

I've always put Dextron III in my transmission but I'm finding it hard to find these days.  I assume it is ok to put the newer grades in it (Dextron VI, Dextron IV)?  (Monsoon Vdrive 2001)

It is sold as dex/Merc at any auto parts store.  Delco stopped licencing the dextron 3 name years ago.

Exactly what the guy at Autozone told me the other day when I was looking for the bu's tranny fluid.

I have it straight from Indmar's tech guy that (synthetic) Dexron VI is backwards compatible with Dexron III and OK to use.

thanks guys, I was pretty sure it would be backward compatible, but thought I'd ask to be safe.
