Noob mechanic here - decided to try and learn for myself because we've had bad experiences with local yards and they charge 65 euros an hour for the pleasure!

Looking into potential transmission issue that means I might be pulling the V drive and gearbox out (ZF 45IV) - came across this brass adaptor which is on a hose that feeds into the starboard side of the V drive.  It looks to me like previous owner might have installed it as a port for flushing / winterization if anyone could confirm pls?

If so, I'm thinking it could be a good spot to install the new Indmar Sea Strainer Pro with flusher that I've bought as looks to me like we don't have a strainer currently (2011 Axis A20 / Indmar A355 5.7L)
