A counter point is that on many other brands, you may not even be able to de-option.  Base prices are higher but more options are already included.

Absolutely. I know a lot of people complain that EVERYTHING is an option, but at least it gives flexibility to only pay for what you care about.

I’ve owned a Malibu since 2000. I grew up on a Malibu and will always own a Malibu. Axis’ are beautiful boats, but I like all the creature comforts that Malibu offers. I had 900 hours on my 2002 21 VLX. I had 790 hours on my 2013 23 LSV when I sold it in July this year.  I put over 110 hours on it this year. I now have a 2020 23 MXZ, it now has 79 hours on it. I trailer to all the lakes. So by the end of the year I will have close to 200 hours. We average 110 hours a year. So my point is having all the comforts of a Malibu is what we like. To each there own, but I will pay for all those expensive options.

That's awesome!!  I too have only owned Malibu, with the exception of our pontoon boats.  I have 2 of them now and love them both equally for the same reasons.  However........I do like skiing behind the Nautique 200.  Truth be told, I considered buying one but the deal I got on my RLXi when I bought it was good enough not to consider a 200.

I am an old school wakeboarder and slalom skier and have always preferred the Malibu wakes and value.  I considered the G23 as I was looking for the best wakeboard wake value and never considered the Axis but in retrospect should have at least taken a set behind the A24.  I just bought a new  2021 24 MXZ which was billed by my dealer as one of the last boats still focused on the wake.  I am now kinda disappointed that the wake is (IMO) less than a G23 and have some buyers remorse given the amount of money I just spent.  The options are nice but did not even attempt to negotiate the price % and now wish I had at least  put some pressure on them to increase my discount.  With the market the way it is right now I wonder if it would have made any difference.

Don't beat yourself up.  I don't believe it would have made that much of a difference.  Maybe a few thousand, but doubt you would be moving from a 20% discount to a 25%.  That's just what we are seeing in our area that is.
