Is my MMDC dying?

Recommended Posts

My gauges sometimes cut out for a few seconds then power back up.  MMDC only, perfect pass is fine. Last weekend they stayed off 10 minutes.  It seems like a loose, or corroded connection power or ground to me but I've taken them apart twice now and can't find anything obvious.  Has anyone else had this?  I'm considering changing to analog gauges but there's not a direct replacement for the speedo/ depth/ temp/ hours so I'd have to add gauges and make a custom dash panel to hold them. Whenever I test the gauges at home they work great.

Do a search, a member here had the same problem and took out his MMDC used a heat gun to remove the rear panel and under magnification found corroded and cracked solider joints on the board near the main power in pin.

Thanks!

Here's the old thread, I'll try that this winter.
