Start boat with key

Recommended Posts

2012 lsv. Boat will not start with key. Key won’t even turn enough to start the crank. Elec start works just fine just seems like the key should work. Any ideas on what would need to be replaced?

Are you using the correct key?  If so, did you try lubricating the switch?

Is the key switch on this model simply for power, and you still use the button for cranking?

I’m pretty new to this board (and boating). You are one helpful dude! I see you helping people all the time. Good thing about America!

Im using the key that came with the boat so I’m hoping it’s right! Imagine a clock. Key will turn to like 2oclock (maybe to prime the fuel pump)?

key doesn’t have any power switch. I use the button on the dashboard for power. I haven’t tried lubricating the switch. You thinking some wd40 in there?

Best I can tell it’s option B. I’ve started the boat plenty of times with the key still in my pocket.

just doesn’t seem Right there wouldn’t be the option to start with a key (in case the screen is out)
