Loss of Can Signal

Recommended Posts

I have a 2009 Malibu VTX with just over 100 hours.  I was on the water yesterday when "Loss of Can Signal" popped up.  I was unable to operate the bilge, the blower, and filling of the tanks.  My speedometer or tachometer were reading zero when I was in gear.  I am just thankful that I was able to get the engine started!  Anyway, I decided to stay on the water and pull some tubers.  I hit a decent size wave while pulling the tubers and then all of a sudden my speedometer and tachometer started to function.  After I stopped the boat the bilge and the blower were functioning properly and I was able to fill my tanks (but of course I didn't because if I did and then things stopped functioning, I could be left with just a bunch of extra weight in my boat).  I am not a technical person (at all!!) but this tells me that this is probably some type of loose wiring somewhere.  Where do I begin to look for this loose wire?  Am I going down the right path?  My engine (if it matters) is a Corvette LS3 so I would need assistance locating where these loose wires might be on this particular engine.  I appreciate any input.
