Safe Towable Inflatable Tube

I would like to purchase a Towable Tube for the kids since that's all they keep asking for.
I don't see many malibu boats with towables so i'm not sure whats the limit and where should I hook it up?
Can I get a two rider (Thriller Deck Towable Tube) and hook up to a single transom eye or both or what exactly?

I have 3 young kids and local nieces and nephews. i have been through a dozen towables.

the ones that have served us the best are the 3 seat ones that Costco sells.  of course they are sold out now, but there are other similar models from other manufacturers and retailers.

I tow the inflatables from the ski pylon.  never from the tower.

I tow from the pylon also and never from the tower.  You can tow from the other points lower like the hook on the bar or eaylets in the back, but the rope will always be in the water and splashing the riders a lot.  I gets annoying after a while being constantly splashed in the face.

I have always used towables from airhead. They are expensive, but they last and are the perfect size (3-person) for two kids to go together.  We have had many summers of fun with our Airhead towables.  I also use the pylon to secure the tow line (sold separately).

It happens on every discussion about tubing, ohh don’t tube from your tower (factory doesn’t warranty it).  Cmon people, you are all boaters.  I’ve pulled from my tower for 3 Malibu’s / axis for 28 years, and have never even had one thought in my head about destroying the tower.  Now, maybe I wouldn’t with 3-4 300+ pound dudes, but if that’s the case I need to hangout on the water with different people.

I am not concerned about the tower failing, I'm concerned about the fiberglass that holds the tower to the boat failing and the tower collapsing.  Fiberglass does not have the tensile strength of wood or steel.  towing tubes that displace large amounts of water, transfer a great deal of force and stress into the gunnels where the tower is attached.  If the fiberglass failed, the tower would fall crushing anyone sitting in the back seats.  There are some documented cases of it happening in the past.

does it happen often:  no

is it likely to happen: no

is it worth the risk to me: no

I'm glad that you have not had an issue in your 28 years. Please dont belittle others for making a choice based on safety.

True story:  neighbour literally ripped  the pylon out of his I/O.  It and the rope went to Davey Jones' locker.  I am not sure I would have anyone sitting under any rope, let alone a tubing rope.

I also vote for the Airhead 3 person tube - we've had ours for years and it is super comfy, safe, and indestructible.  You really have to want to fall out, or else the driver has to be a complete lunatic to throw riders.  Awesome for younger kids especially.
